Megadeth may be on a hiatus as Dave Mustaine battles back throat cancer, but fans shouldn’t worry about the band or its frontman, says one member.

Speaking to the “Appetite For Distortion” podcast, David Ellefson admits he remains “very hopeful and optimistic” that Mustaine will win the fight. “As Dave said in his press release, it’s to be respected and met really head-on and just right straight into it, which he’s doing… So, I pray, and I lift it up to the higher power to have his hand on that,” the bassist adds.

While all 2019 tour dates have been canceled, the band’s Megacruise will still set sail in October as well as continuing to work on their follow-up to 2016’s Dystopia.
