California Set to Teach DMV Employees to be Less Rude

Regardless of whether it’s deserved, the Department of Motor Vehicles has a reputation for long waits and poor customer service.

And now at least one state has not only recognized that, but it’s also doing something about it.

California officials have announced they’re shutting down all DMV offices in the state — a total of 183 — for a half-day next month to “re-train employees on customer service skills.”

More than 5,000 employees will be schooled on how to provide “excellent” service to future customers on July 24th. All California DMVs will open at 1 p.m. that day, officials say.
