Here’s your ‘Florida Man’ story for the day – a man was pretending to be a police officer and pulling over motorists when he pulled over a real officer by mistake.

26-year-old Matthew Erris had mounted red and blue lights on his white 2007 Chevy Trailblazer and tried to pull over another driver last week.

Unfortunately for him, that driver happened to be an undercover detective, who refused to pull over and instead called 911 to report the incident.

Deputies later caught up with Erris and pulled him over instead.  A ‘realistic-looking’ airsoft pistol in a holster was found in the vehicle, and a light bar installed in the vehicle’s grill.

He was charged with impersonating an officer. Now police are asking anyone who might have been pulled over by Erris in the past to come forward.
