Ground Broken For Coachella Valley Arena

In the heat of a desert June day, ground has been broken near the Classic Club at Cook Street and Varner Road for a new ice hockey arena.

 

It’ll be a home to a minor league hockey team in 2022, and will also host concerts and other events.

 

The Coachella Valley Arena is a collaborative between Oak View Group and The Berger Foundation.

 

When plans fell through to build the arena in a congested neighborhood in Palm Springs, the developers moved their plan east to unincorporated county land just north of Interstate 10 near Cook Street.
