Indio Water

Indio residents can drink their water with confidence, as newly-released 2020 water testing results show the water provided by Indio Water Authority (IWA) exceeds all state and federal health and safety
standards.

All public water systems in California are required to regularly test supplies for the presence of bacteria and other substances, and report the results to state regulators and to customers through the annual Water Quality Report. The IWA 2020 Water Quality Report details the findings of nearly 1,000 water tests conducted during the 2020 calendar year. In addition to the detailed water quality information,
the report contains useful articles about bill pay assistance programs available for residential customers, and conservation rebates of up to $20,000 for homeowners. IWA customers can view this report online starting July 1, 2021 by visiting www.indiowater.org/ccr2020.

“We are proud to share these results, which confirm we are fulfilling our mission to provide high quality and affordable water to our customers,” said IWA General Manger Trish Rhay. “Despite the challenges of the past year, Indio residents can rest assured they are receiving a safe supply of clean drinking water.”

All water sourced by IWA is treated before it enters the system for delivery to approximately 85,000 people. Water samples from across the system are collected throughout the year and tested for dozens of regulated and unregulated contaminants and impurities. The results consistently show these samples meet all requirements set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the State Water Resources
Control Board.

“Whether it is police, fire, public works or water, those who live and work in Indio expect a high level of service,” Indio City Manager Bryan Montgomery said. “This Water Quality Report demonstrates the city’s commitment to excellence.”
