Fans of the Fab Four are in for a treat this weekend as thought to be lost footage of the band will be shown for the first time in over 50 years.

The Beatles appeared on the BBC’s Top of the Pops in the summer of 1966, performing “Paperback Writer”. Only 11 seconds were known to exist.

Thanks to a re-discovery of the 8mm reels, the film and audio have been restored and the full 92 seconds will be shown on Saturday at Birmingham City University.

Also included in the collection are performances by Dusty Springfield, The Hollies, Tom Jones, Ike and Tina Turner, the Shadows and the Troggs.
