The number of reported measles cases in the US continues to rise. Already surpassing the most since the disease was declared eliminated in the states.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, 704 cases have now been confirmed. A majority of those diagnosed are unvaccinated minors, CBS News reports.

New York is dealing with two outbreaks, totaling 592 cases, mostly involving members of the ultra-Orthodox Jewish community.

The spread has been attributed to false and misleading information on vaccines.
