Mid-December, Covid-19 Cases Climbing In CA, Locally

California has tested 27,195,587 of its 40 million people for the Covid-19 virus, since March 2020.  That’s 67.98% of the population.

 

12,804,413 people still need to be tested in California, that’s 32.018% of the state’s population.

 

5.70% of the people tested for Covid-19 in California have tested positive. That’s 1,551,766 people.

 

94.29% of the people tested for Covid-19 in California have tested negative.  That’s 25,643,821 people.

 

California has 20,969 deaths from Covid-19, which is 1.35% of those who have tested positive. 122 new deaths in the past 24 hours.

 

California hospitals report 8/10th’s of 1% of the people who have tested positive, are hospitalized, which is 13,960 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the hospitals. 2,937 of those patients are in ICU.

 

The case rate in California is 34  cases of Covid-19 per 100,000 people. The Positivity rate is 8.4%.

 

40,088,680 Californians, or 99.9% of the state’s population are living in 54 counties, currently in the most restrictive PURPLE Tier.

 

Statewide ICU beds available: 7.4%.   Under 15% ICU Bed availability triggers more restrictions in California.

On Monday December 14th 2020, Riverside County remains in California’s most restrictive Purple Tier, for Widespread risk of Covid-19 transmission. The case rate in the County is 47.8 Covid-19 cases per 100,000 people.  The Positivity rate is now at 14.8%.

 

Riverside County has tested 1,282,177 people for Covid-19 since March 2020, out of a population of 2.5 million.  That’s 51.28% of the County’s population.

 

1,217,823 people still need to be tested in the county, that’s 48.71% of the county’s population.

 

8.80% of the people tested for Covid-19 in Riverside County have tested positive. That’s 112,950 people.

 

91.19% of the people tested for Covid-19 in Riverside County have tested negative.  That’s 1,169,227 people.

 

Of the 112,950 people who have tested positive in Riverside County,

62% of them, 70,040 have fully recovered.

35.88% of them, 40,528 are at home recovering.

Together, that’s 97.88% of all the positive cases.

There are 41,337 active cases in the County as of 12/14/2020.

 

7/10th’s of 1%, of the people who have tested positive so far in Riverside County, 809 people, remain hospitalized, and 170 of them are in Intensive Care. 34 new hospitalizations.

 

The Southern California Region, which includes 14 counties from just south of Sacramento down to the Mexico border, has 6.2% ICU bed availability. 

 

Riverside County is at 4.3% ICU Bed availability, collectively in all 17 of its major hospital facilities.

 

1.39% of the people who have tested positive so far in Riverside County, 1,573 people, have died from Covid-19. 22 new deaths.

 

438 of those deaths have been in the Coachella Valley, which is 27.91% of the County’s total. 391 deaths in cities, 47 deaths in unincorporated areas…12 in Mecca,  1 in Vista Santa Rosa, 4 in Bermuda Dunes, 5 in Garnet, 6 in Desert Palms, 5 in Desert Edge, 6 in Oasis, 2 in Thousand Palms, 2 in Sky Valley, 3 in Thermal,  and 1 in North Shore.

 

Of the 1,573 people who have died from Covid-19 in Riverside County, 1,100 of them have been over 65; 396 have been between 45 and 64.

Coachella Valley Overall: 22,477 positive cases have been recorded in the Coachella Valley since March 8th 2020, when the testing and counting began. 72.37%, or 16,268 people, have recovered. 284 new  cases.

There are no deaths from Covid-19 for anyone from newborn to age 17.

8 deaths among people aged 18-24.

69 deaths among people aged 25-44

396 deaths among people aged 45-64

767 deaths among people aged 65-84

333 deaths among people aged 85 and up.

 

935 deaths are men, 630  are women, and 0 are transgender, non-binary or intersex according to county officials. Women account for 40% of the Covid-19 deaths in Riverside County, men account for 60% of the deaths.

 

Racial breakdown of deaths in Riverside County:

 

784 Latino, 586 Caucasian, 83 Black, 69 Asian, 7 Native American Indian/Native Alaskan,  10 Multiple Race, 7 Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, 37 Unknown Race.

 

Riverside County has 3,559 cases in nursing homes, with 2,200 cases among patients, and 1,359 cases among staff. The overwhelming majority of nursing home cases, 957 cases, are in the City of Riverside. Note: The County has not updated nursing home figures in several weeks.

In Coachella Valley nursing facilities, there have been 192 cases in Palm Desert, 175 in Palm Springs, 77 in Rancho Mirage, 58 in Indio, 53 in La Quinta,

Rite Aid is doing Covid-19 testing by appointment for people 18 years of age or older, regardless of whether the person is experiencing symptoms. Results are expected in three to five days.

 

The Coachella Valley locations providing testing starting Thursday July 16th 2020 are:

 

— 12900 Palm Drive, Desert Hot Springs;

— 51101 Cesar Chavez St., Coachella;

— 47985 Monroe St., Building A, Indio; 

 

The sites will utilize self-swab nasal tests overseen by Rite Aid pharmacists, and will operate weekdays from 10 a.m to 8 p.m., and weekends from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
