Not Much Change In CA Or RivCo Covid-19 Numbers; No Surge Right Now

California has tested 12,928,170 of its 40 million people for the Covid-19 virus, since March 2020.  That’s 32.32% of the population.

 

27,071,830 people still need to be tested in California, that’s 67.67% of the state’s population.

 

5.87% of the people tested for Covid-19 in California have tested positive. That’s 760,013 people.

 

94.12% of the people tested for Covid-19 in California have tested negative.  That’s 12,168,157 people.

 

California has 14,451 deaths from Covid-19, which is 1.90% of those who have tested positive.

 

California hospitals report 3/10th’s of 1% of the people who have tested positive, are hospitalized, which is 2,887 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the hospitals. 902 of those patients are in ICU.  The State also reports having another 848  “Suspected Covid-19” patients.

Riverside County stats as of Weds morning September 16th 2020, are through Monday Sept 14th 2020

 

Riverside County has tested 578,966 people for Covid-19 since March 2020, out of a population of 2.5 million.  That’s 23.15% of the County’s population.

 

1,921,034 people still need to be tested in the county, that’s 76.84% of the county’s population.

 

9.66% of the people tested for Covid-19, have tested positive.

That’s 55,986 people.

 

90.33% of the people tested for Covid-19 in Riverside County have tested negative.  That’s 522,980 people.

 

Of the 55,986 people who have tested positive in Riverside County,

91.15% of them, 51,032, have fully recovered.

6.56% of them, 3,674 are at home recovering. Together, that’s 97.71% of all the positive cases.

 

2/10th’s of 1%, of the people who have tested positive so far in Riverside County, 155 people, remain hospitalized, and 49 of them are in Intensive Care.

 

2% of the people who have tested positive so far in Riverside County, 1,125 people, have died from Covid-19. 328 of those deaths have been in the Coachella Valley, which is 29.15% of the County’s total. 297 deaths in cities, 31 deaths in unincorporated areas…9 in Mecca,  1 in Vista Santa Rosa, 3 in Bermuda Dunes, 4 in Garnet, 3 in Desert Palms, 4 in Desert Edge, 4 in Oasis, 2 in Sky Valley and 1 in North Shore.

 

Of the 1,125 people who have died from Covid-19 in Riverside County, 784 of them have been over 64; 286 have been between 45 and 64.

 

14,083 positive cases have been recorded in the Coachella Valley since March 8th 2020, when the testing and counting began. 93.46% of them, 13,163 people, have recovered. Only 920 active cases in the desert on 9/16/2020.

 

1,858 cases are in unincorporated areas of the desert since March 2020.

(Mecca 434 cases, Thermal 173 cases, Oasis 325 cases,  North Shore 122 cases, Bermuda Dunes 130 cases, Thousand Palms 224 cases, Vista Santa Rosa 91 cases, Garnet 214 cases, Desert Palms 43 cases, Desert Edge 57 cases, and Sky Valley 45 cases)

 

94.18%, or 1,750 people have recovered from Covid-19 in unincorporated areas:

Mecca 407, Thermal 166, Oasis 307, North Shore 119, Bermuda Dunes 122,

Thousand Palms 209, Vista Santa Rosa 82, Garnet 206, Desert Palms 40, Desert Edge 49, Sky Valley 43

 

Only 108 active cases of Covid-19 in unincorporated areas as of 9/16/2020.

93.35% of those people, 11,413, people have recovered. Only 812 active Covid-19 cases in cities in the Coachella Valley as of 9/16/2020.

In Riverside County:

 

There are no deaths from Covid-19 for anyone from newborn to age 17.

6 deaths among people aged 18-24.

50 deaths among people aged 25-44

286 deaths among people aged 45-64

537 deaths among people aged 64-84

247 deaths among people aged 85 and up.

 

663 deaths are men, 459 are women, and 0 are transgender, non-binary or intersex according to county officials

 

Riverside County has 3,373 cases in nursing homes, with 2,086 cases among patients, and 1,287 cases among staff. The overwhelming majority of nursing home cases, 917 cases, are in the City of Riverside.

In Coachella Valley nursing facilities, there have been 192 cases in Palm Desert, 138 in Palm Springs, 77 in Rancho Mirage, 57 in Indio, 53 in La Quinta,

 

Riverside County is no longer providing capacity statistics for the hospitals in the county.

 

 

The federal temporary hospitals built at the County Fairgrounds in Indio and the old Sears Store in Riverside months ago, are still equipped and ready to be used.   They are not currently being used because they are not needed at this time.   They are not staffed right now because there are no patients there.

 

If they are needed, they can quickly be staffed and put into operation.

 

All testing is free to the patient being tested. Be patient, you might have to wait awhile to get an appointment.

Drive-thru testing is available by appointment only at the Riverside County Fairgrounds in Indio  from 9 a-m to 3 p-m Tuesday through Saturday, by appt only. You can also get tested at the Cathedral City Library on Date Palm Drive. Rite Aid is expanding its COVID-19 testing capacity across California too.

 

Testing will be available by appointment for people 18 years of age or older, regardless of whether the person is experiencing symptoms, according to Rite Aid. Results are expected in three to five days, a company spokesperson said.

 

The Riverside County locations providing testing starting Thursday July 16th 2020 are:

The sites will utilize self-swab nasal tests overseen by Rite Aid pharmacists, and will operate weekdays from 10 a.m to 8 p.m., and weekends from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
