California has tested 10,762,506 of its 40 million people for the Covid-19 virus, since March 2020.  That’s 26.90% of the population.

 

29,237,494 people still need to be tested in California, that’s 73.09% of the state’s population. At the current rate of testing 110,019 people per day, it will take the state 265 days to test all the people in California. It could have that testing finished by the middle of March 2021.

 

6.25% of the people tested for Covid-19 in California have tested positive. That’s 673,095 people.

 

93.74% of the people tested for Covid-19 in California have tested negative.  That’s 10,089,411 people.

 

California has 12,257 deaths from Covid-19, which is 1.82% of those who have tested positive.

 

California hospitals report 6/10th of 1% of the people who have tested positive, are hospitalized, which is 4,424 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the hospitals. 1,388 of those patients are in ICU.  The State also reports having another 1,137 “Suspected Covid-19” patients.

Riverside County stats as of Wednesday morning August 26th, 2020, are through Tuesday, August 25th, 2020

 

Riverside County has tested 495,955 people for Covid-19 since March 2020, out of a population of 2.5 million.  That’s 19.83% of the County’s population.

 

2,004,045 people still need to be tested in the county, that’s 80.16% of the county’s population. At the current rate of testing, 4,037 people per day, it will take the county 496 days or 16 and a half months to test every resident in the county.  Testing could be complete on January 4th, 2022.

 

10.32% of the people tested for Covid-19 have tested positive. That’s 51,200 people.

 

89.67% of the people tested for Covid-19 in Riverside County have tested negative.  That’s 444,755 people.

 

Of the 51,200 people who have tested positive in Riverside County,

55.48% of them, 28,407, have fully recovered.

42.17% of them, 21,593 are at home recovering and are not getting any medical assistance. Together, that’s 97.65% of all the positive cases.

 

4/10th’s of 1%, of the people who have tested positive so far in Riverside County, 222 people, remain hospitalized, and 79 of them are in Intensive Care.

 

1.91% of the people who have tested positive so far in Riverside County, 978 people, have died from Covid-19. 299 of those deaths have been in the Coachella Valley, which is 30.57% of the County’s total. 270deaths in cities, 29 deaths in unincorporated areas…8 in Mecca,  1 in Vista Santa Rosa, 3 in Bermuda Dunes, 4 in Garnet, 3 in Desert Palms, 4 in Desert Edge, 3 in Oasis, 2 in Sky Valley and 1 in North Shore.

 

13,220 positive cases have been recorded in the Coachella Valley since March 8th, 2020, when the testing and counting began. The Coachella Valley has accounted for 25.82% of the positive cases in Riverside County.

(Mecca 404 cases, Thermal 158 cases, Oasis 311,  North Shore 120 cases, Bermuda Dunes 125 cases, Thousand Palms 202 cases, Vista Santa Rosa 84 cases, Garnet 204 cases, Desert Palms 43 cases, Desert Edge 51 cases, and Sky Valley 44 cases)

973 cases in Palm Springs, 43 dead

224 cases in Rancho Mirage, 19 dead

936 cases in Palm Desert, 48 dead

1,759 cases in Cathedral City, 29 dead

2,428 cases in Coachella,  25 dead

3,365 cases in Indio, 66 dead

731 cases in La Quinta, 17 dead

1017 cases in Desert Hot Springs, 21 dead

41 in Indian Wells, 2 deaths

22 cases in Idyllwild/Pine Cove, 1 death

47 cases in Cabazon, 1 dead

 

In Riverside County:

There are no deaths from Covid-19 for anyone from newborn to age 17.

deaths among people aged 18-24.

45 deaths among people aged 25-44

247 deaths among people aged 45-64

474 deaths among people aged 64-84

207 deaths among people aged 85 and up.

 

583 deaths are men, 394 are women, and 0 are transgender, non-binary or intersex according to county officials

Of the 978 people who have died from Covid-19 in Riverside County, 681 of them have been over 64 years old.

 

Riverside County has 3,160 cases in nursing homes, with 1,961 cases among patients, and 1,199 cases among staff. The overwhelming majority of nursing home cases, 902 cases, are in the City of Riverside.

In Coachella Valley nursing facilities, there have been 190 cases in Palm Desert, 132 in Palm Springs, 76 in Rancho Mirage, 56 in Indio, 53 in La Quinta,

 

Riverside County is no longer providing local capacity statistics for the hospitals in the Coachella Valley.

 

The federal temporary hospitals built at the County Fairgrounds in Indio and the old Sears Store in Riverside months ago, are still equipped and ready to be used.   They are not currently being used because they are not needed at this time.   They are not staffed right now because there are no patients there.

 

If they are needed, they can quickly be staffed and put into operation.

 

All testing is free to the patient being tested. Be patient, you might have to wait a while to get an appointment.

Drive-thru testing is available by appointment only at the Riverside County Fairgrounds in Indio from 9 a-m to 3 p-m Tuesday through Saturday, by appt only. You can also get tested at the Cathedral City Library on Date Palm Drive. Rite Aid is expanding its COVID-19 testing capacity across California too.

 

Testing will be available by appointment for people 18 years of age or older, regardless of whether the person is experiencing symptoms, according to Rite Aid. Results are expected in three to five days, a company spokesperson said.
