Road repairs to Highway 111 in downtown Indio continue into early 2023.
The improvement project includes sidewalk upgrades, landscaped medians and other work along the main corridor leading to the Riverside County Fairgrounds.
The work on Highway 111, from Arabia Street to Smurr Street, is the second phase of a $5.5 million endeavor managed by Riverside County to renovate the area following construction of the nearby John J. Benoit Detention Center. The work will match recent City of Indio improvements along Highway 111 that have made for smoother travel in the city.
During the project, Highway 111 in the construction area is expected to have one lane open in each direction. The repairs are scheduled for completion in early 2023.
