State, County Coping As Covid-19 Active Cases Drop

California has tested 12,389,991 of its 40 million people for the Covid-19 virus, since March 2020.  That’s 30.97% of the population.

 

27,610,009 people still need to be tested in California, that’s 69.02% of the state’s population. At the current rate of testing, the State of California will take 597.69 days, to test all its residents.

 

5.99% of the people tested for Covid-19 in California have tested positive. That’s 742,865 people.

 

94% of the people tested for Covid-19 in California have tested negative.  That’s 11,647,126 people.

 

California has 13,978 deaths from Covid-19, which is 1.88% of those who have tested positive.

 

California hospitals report 4/10th’s of 1% of the people who have tested positive, are hospitalized, which is 3,288 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the hospitals. 1,040 of those patients are in ICU.  The State also reports having another 937 “Suspected Covid-19” patients.

Riverside County has tested 559,289 people for Covid-19 since March 2020, out of a population of 2.5 million.  That’s 22.37% of the County’s population.

 

1,940,711 people still need to be tested in the county, that’s 77.62% of the county’s population. At the current rate of testing, it will take the county 622.82 days to test all its residents

 

9.81% of the people tested for Covid-19, have tested positive.

That’s 54,868 people. There were 133 new positive cases in the past 24 hours.

 

90.18% of the people tested for Covid-19 in Riverside County have tested negative.  That’s 504,421 people.

 

Of the 54,868 people who have tested positive in Riverside County,

89.62% of them, 49,176, have fully recovered.

8.03% of them, 4,409, are at home recovering. Together, that’s 97.65% of all the positive cases.

 

3/10th’s of 1%, of the people who have tested positive so far in Riverside County, 189 people, remain hospitalized, and 57 of them are in Intensive Care.

 

1.99% of the people who have tested positive so far in Riverside County, 1,094 people, have died from Covid-19. 325 of those deaths have been in the Coachella Valley, which is 29.70% of the County’s total. 295 deaths in cities, 30 deaths in unincorporated areas…8 in Mecca,  1 in Vista Santa Rosa, 3 in Bermuda Dunes, 4 in Garnet, 3 in Desert Palms, 4 in Desert Edge, 4 in Oasis, 2 in Sky Valley and 1 in North Shore.

 

Of the 1,094 people who have died from Covid-19 in Riverside County, 762 of them have been over 64; 278 have been between 45 and 64.

 

13,904 positive cases have been recorded in the Coachella Valley since March 8th 2020, when the testing and counting began. 91.80% of them, 12,764 people, have recovered. Only 1,140 active cases in the desert on 9/11/2020. 14 new positive cases in the Valley in the past 24 hours

 

1,832 cases are in unincorporated areas of the desert since March 2020.

(Mecca 427 cases, Thermal 170 cases, Oasis 321 cases,  North Shore 122 cases, Bermuda Dunes 129 cases, Thousand Palms 218 cases, Vista Santa Rosa 90 cases, Garnet 213 cases, Desert Palms 43 cases, Desert Edge 54 cases, and Sky Valley 45 cases)

 

92.24%, or 1,690 people have recovered from Covid-19 in unincorporated areas:

Mecca 390, Thermal 158, Oasis 299, North Shore 114, Bermuda Dunes 121,

Thousand Palms 192, Vista Santa Rosa 79, Garnet 196, Desert Palms 39, Desert Edge 47, Sky Valley 42

 

Only 142 active cases of Covid-19 in unincorporated areas as of 9/11/2020.

12,072 Covid-19 cases reported in cities in the desert, since March 2020.

 

91.73% of those people, 11,074 people have recovered. Only 998 active Covid-19 cases in cities in the Coachella Valley as of 9/11/2020.

In Riverside County:

 

There are no deaths from Covid-19 for anyone from newborn to age 17.

deaths among people aged 18-24.

47 deaths among people aged 25-44

278 deaths among people aged 45-64

523 deaths among people aged 64-84

239 deaths among people aged 85 and up.

 

645 deaths are men, 446 are women, and 0 are transgender, non-binary or intersex according to county officials

 

Riverside County has 3,329 cases in nursing homes, with 2,061 cases among patients, and 1,268 cases among staff. The overwhelming majority of nursing home cases, 913 cases, are in the City of Riverside.

In Coachella Valley nursing facilities, there have been 190 cases in Palm Desert, 138 in Palm Springs, 77 in Rancho Mirage, 56 in Indio, 53 in La Quinta,

 

 

Riverside County is no longer providing capacity statistics for the hospitals in the county.

 

 

The federal temporary hospitals built at the County Fairgrounds in Indio and the old Sears Store in Riverside months ago, are still equipped and ready to be used.   They are not currently being used because they are not needed at this time.   They are not staffed right now because there are no patients there.

 

If they are needed, they can quickly be staffed and put into operation.

 

All testing is free to the patient being tested. Be patient, you might have to wait awhile to get an appointment.

Drive-thru testing is available by appointment only at the Riverside County Fairgrounds in Indio  from 9 a-m to 3 p-m Tuesday through Saturday, by appt only. You can also get tested at the Cathedral City Library on Date Palm Drive.
