Almost 100,000 people tuned in to watch the Chiefs beat the 49ers in Super Bowl 54. Nielsen ratings released Monday reveal 99.9 million watched Sunday’s game, a slight increase over the 98.5 million who checked out Super Bowl 53.

Viewership for the annual event had been declining since it peaked for the 2015 game that featured the Patriots and the Seahawks.

Including viewers who streamed the game through Verizon and watched it on Fox’s Deportes Spanish network, the total viewership for Sunday’s game was 102 million, according to Fox.

Although Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes won the MVP, he clearly wasn’t the most valuable member of the telecast.

That title is shared by halftime stars Jennifer Lopez and Shakira, who prompted 2.2 social media interactions during their performances, Nielsen reveals. By comparison, Mahomes — who was the top player for social media interactions — was the subject of 514,000.
