The next Smashing Pumpkins album will be “pretty different,” according to frontman Billy Corgan.

In a new interview, Corgan says he’s written 21 songs for the follow-up to 2018’s “Shiny and Oh So Bright, Volume 1” — and they’re unlike anything he’s written in the past. “I’ve been working on it for over a year,” he says. “It’s pretty different — in a good way, I think.

Everybody that’s heard it likes it a lot, so that’s a good sign.” Although Corgan hasn’t offered an estimated release date for the new album, he says the band is already planning on touring behind it.
