Bus-Size Asteroid to Buzz by Earth Today
January 2, 2020 3:13AM PST
After a series of asteroids flew past Earth over the new year holiday (one the size of the Statue of Liberty!) a bus-sized asteroid will zip by our planet Thursday morning at 18,400 miles per hour!
Tracking the asteroid’s trip is possible on The Sky Live, which calculates the asteroid will be visible from New York mid-morning.
Before you try to call off work to Dooms Day prep, the asteroid will still be 1 million miles from the Earth’s atmosphere. An asteroid a similar size (between 32 and 71 feet long) did buzz by Earth over New Year’s Eve at a 415,000 mile distance.
