Covid-19…Still Around, Threatening Typical Holiday Traditions

California has tested 16,892,062 of its 40 million people for the Covid-19 virus, since March 2020.  That’s 42.23% of the population.

 

23,107,938 people still need to be tested in California, that’s 57.76% of the state’s population.

 

5.13% of the people tested for Covid-19 in California have tested positive. That’s 867,317 people.

 

94.86% of the people tested for Covid-19 in California have tested negative.  That’s 16,024,745 people.

 

California has 16,943 deaths from Covid-19, which is 1.95% of those who have tested positive.

 

California hospitals report 3/10th’s of 1% of the people who have tested positive, are hospitalized, which is 3,020 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the hospitals. 727 of those patients are in ICU.

Riverside County has tested 728,844 people for Covid-19 since March 2020, out of a population of 2.5 million.  That’s 29.15% of the County’s population.

 

1,771,156 people still need to be tested in the county, that’s 70.84% of the county’s population.

 

8.68% of the people tested for Covid-19 in Riverside County have tested positive. That’s 63,284 people.

 

91.31% of the people tested for Covid-19 in Riverside County have tested negative.  That’s 665,560 people.

 

 

Of the 63,284  people who have tested positive in Riverside County,

90.69% of them, 57,394, have fully recovered.

7.06% of them, 4,473 are at home recovering. Together, that’s 97.75% of all the positive cases.

2/10th’s of 1%, of the people who have tested positive so far in Riverside County, 148 people, remain hospitalized, and 44 of them are in Intensive Care.

 

2% of the people who have tested positive so far in Riverside County, 1,269 people, have died from Covid-19.  359 of those deaths have been in the Coachella Valley, which is 28.28% of the County’s total. 324 deaths in cities, 35 deaths in unincorporated areas…9 in Mecca,  1 in Vista Santa Rosa, 3 in Bermuda Dunes, 5 in Garnet, 3 in Desert Palms, 5 in Desert Edge, 5 in Oasis, 1 in Thousand Palms, 2 in Sky Valley and 1 in North Shore.

 

Of the 1,269 people who have died from Covid-19 in Riverside County, 882 of them have been over 65; 322 have been between 45 and 64.

 

15,273 positive cases have been recorded in the Coachella Valley since March 8th 2020, when the testing and counting began. 93.66% of them, 14,306  people, have recovered. There are 967 active cases in the desert on 10/19/2020.

 

2,035 cases are in unincorporated areas of the desert since March 2020.

(Mecca 465 cases, Thermal 192 cases, Oasis 346 cases,  North Shore 146 cases, Bermuda Dunes 141 cases, Thousand Palms 245 cases, Vista Santa Rosa 100 cases, Garnet 232 cases, Desert Palms 45 cases, Desert Edge 73 cases, and Sky Valley 50 cases)

 

94.44%, or 1,922 people have recovered from Covid-19 in unincorporated areas:

Mecca 441, Thermal 184, Oasis 329, North Shore 135, Bermuda Dunes 133,

Thousand Palms 232, Vista Santa Rosa 97, Garnet 221, Desert Palms 40, Desert Edge 65, Sky Valley 45

Only 113 active cases of Covid-19 in unincorporated areas as of 10/19/2020.

 

13,238 Covid-19 cases reported in cities in the desert, since March 2020.

93.54% of those people, 12,384, people have recovered. Only 854 active Covid-19 cases in cities in the Coachella Valley as of 10/19/2020.

23 cases in Idyllwild/Pine Cove, 1 death;   21 people have recovered

65 cases in Cabazon, 1 dead;                61 people have recovered

 

 

In Riverside County:

 

There are no deaths from Covid-19 for anyone from newborn to age 17.

7 deaths among people aged 18-24.

58 deaths among people aged 25-44

322 deaths among people aged 45-64

602 deaths among people aged 65-84

280 deaths among people aged 85 and up.

 

743 deaths are men, 521 are women, and 0 are transgender, non-binary or intersex according to county officials

 

Riverside County has 3,475 cases in nursing homes, with 2,154 cases among patients, and 1,321 cases among staff. The overwhelming majority of nursing home cases, 944 cases, are in the City of Riverside.

In Coachella Valley nursing facilities, there have been 192 cases in Palm Desert, 138 in Palm Springs, 77 in Rancho Mirage, 57 in Indio, 53 in La Quinta,

Drive-thru testing is available by appointment only at the Riverside County Fairgrounds in Indio  from 9 a-m to 3 p-m Tuesday through Saturday, by appt only. You can also get tested at the Cathedral City Library on Date Palm Drive.
