This is why the mascots for most sports teams are people in costumes.

The Seattle Seahawks’ live mascot — an Augur hawk named Taima — veered off course before Thursday night’s game.

Instead of flying back to its trainer after emerging from the team’s tunnel, as it’s supposed to do, Taima landed on a fan’s shoulder before climbing onto his head, clawing the startled man’s face in the process. “Get that guy season tickets!”

Fox broadcaster Joe Buck said in response to the incident. Analyst Troy Aikman added, “Give him a helmet!”

Fortunately, neither the bird nor the fan was seriously injured. The Rams ended up beating the Seahawks 26-17.
